Most foreign nationals wishing to travel to Tajikistan are required to obtain a visa prior to entering the country or upon arrival in Dushanbe airport (conditions apply). We recommend obtaining visa before your departure to Tajikistan to avoid unnecessary stress and delays at the arrival airport.Citizens of the following countries enjoy a visa-free regime to Tajikistan: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, and Azerbaijan (up to 90 days).

GBAO (Kuhistoni Badakhshon Autonomous Province of Tajikistan) is the frontier territory of Tajikistan and has special permission entry (a stamp, which comes on a separate page of passport), which allows applicants to visit Khorugh, Darvoz, Vanj, Rushon, Ishkoshim and Murghob districts. Foreign citizens traveling to GBAO region should indicate in their application, under section 21 “purpose of visit” their intention to do so. It is required to submit a letter stating that the applicant is requesting a permit to enter the mentioned area.
There will be an additional charge levied by the Tajikistan embassy for issuing GBAO permit - £50 per application.

Tajikistan Tourist Visa
A tourist visa is required if visiting Tajikistan as tourist privately or in a group. This visa is issued for a period of up to 45 days.Tourist visas to Tajikistan can be issued as:
- Single entry visas giving the right to enter and depart from Tajikistan 1 time during the visa validity period.
- Double entry visas giving the right to enter and depart from Tajikistan 2 times during the visa validity period.
